How to minimise Acid Wear
Following are some simple steps on how you can manage acid wear without impacting on your lifestyle.
- Consume acid-containing foods and drinks quickly to limit the time they are in contact with your teeth.
- Avoid acidic food and drinks last thing in the evening when salivary flow is at its slowest.
- Drink plenty of water to maintain hydration levels while exercising.
- Drink acidic drinks through a straw, and don't hold the liquid in your mouth or swish it around
- Avoid brushing your teeth straight after meals or drinks, when enamel is at its weakest – wait at least 1 hour.
- Brush your teeth gently but thoroughly twice a day with a protective toothpaste such as PRONAMEL.
- Use a soft bristled toothbrush such as the PRONAMEL toothbrush to minimise wear from brushing
